I’m David Figueroa, a Los Angeles-based screenwriter coming to the craft after more than three decades working inside large public institutions.

That experience heavily influences how I write. I’m particularly interested in what I call administrative horror — stories in which the antagonist is not simply one villain, but an entire system of rules, institutions, hierarchies, traditions, and people carrying out their assigned roles.

My current television projects include The Black Sun, a science-fiction/supernatural WWII series about a man from 2025 thrown into December 1941, and Sleeping Beauty of Catania, a dark historical limited series set in 1911 Sicily.

I’m interested in science fiction, supernatural storytelling, historical drama, institutional power, character psychology, and stories about individuals trapped inside systems much larger than themselves.

I came to screenwriting from outside the entertainment industry, so I’m here to learn, contribute where my own experience may be useful, meet other serious storytellers, and continue developing my work for the professional marketplace.
