My primary focus is live Theatre, with minimal experience in film. I've attached my resume'/c.v. for your convenience. It represents approximately 150 productions and 50 years in show business. I've worked professionally as not only director, but as actor, dramaturg (script editor/doctor/theatre historian) stage manager, designer (scenery, costumes, lighting and props) production manager, producer, acting coach and librettist (playwright-lyricist) for Musical Theatre which is my area of interest and expertise.
One of my former acting students co-wrote, directed and starred in an award-winning indie in 2007, on which I assisted him with casting and rehearsals. I'm semi-retired due to age and health issues, but available for consulting at a modest fee.
At present, I'm concentrating on finding composers for more than a dozen Musical Theatre projects for which I've written libretti. Anyone interested should have at least a nodding acquaintance with shows from the Golden Age of Broadway, as well as opera and operetta, and be willing/able to work temporarily ON SPEC. Currently, I'm seeking experienced theatrical producers for two of my scripts, one of which, EKATERINA (based on the secret diaries of the notorious Russian empress Catherine the Great) which has a complete musical score. The other, THAT JONES BOY! OR THE ADVENTURES OF A BASTARD (adapted from Henry Fielding's classic mid-18th century novel, "Tom Jones") is nearing completion.
Once the score is finished, our plan is to present a staged reading for industry members and a select number of regular theatregoers to gauge the reaction of a nonprofessional audience. This is slated for mid-October.
We estate the cost for this first step at only $100 K, including salaries for performers, music director, stage manager, and rental of rehearsal space. A full first class (Broadway) production will cost in the neighborhood of $35 Million, but rather than attempting to raise it all at once, we are taking one small step at a time.
