Introducing FilmPlatforms Member Spotlight – Our First Episode Is Here!

We're excited to launch FilmPlatforms Member Spotlight, a new YouTube series where our community members introduce themselves and their film projects in their own words.

The idea is simple: one filmmaker, one project, one short video.

Each featured member shares what they're creating, where their project stands, and what kind of industry connections they're looking for.

Episode #1 – Mark Anderson | BLOOM

Our first featured member is Mark Anderson, creator of BLOOM, an animated musical feature currently in development.

In this first video, Mark introduces his project and shares a glimpse of the creative world behind BLOOM.

Would you like to be featured?

We're planning to introduce a new community member and their project each week. The videos are created by the filmmakers themselves, keeping the introductions personal, authentic, and direct.

If you're an active FilmPlatforms member with a film project you'd like to share, you can contact the administration to express your interest.

Let's help filmmakers discover each other's work and build meaningful connections across the industry.

Mark, great to see BLOOM featured in the first Member Spotlight. At this stage, is your main priority finding the right animation partner or securing financing for the next phase of development?

Thank you. It is still sinking in right now!

Currently, I have just had my first ever pitch session with Nicholas Tana and I am waiting on the scorecard being produced.

I also have a 60 minute development call with Alfredo Marun for which I am just awaiting his dates.

Right now, I am also awaiting on responses from various Universities and Colleges who run animation courses. I have offered Bloom and the sample soundtracks to used by students for coursework - in turn, giving me options to use the best one for a concept animation. This has been received rather greatly from the responses received so far.

But... right now? I am gaining as much industry insight as possible to improve the multitude of material I currently have in the meantime - including your own 60-day plan, won as part of becoming the first "Valued Contributor" for FilmPlatforms.

I am also awaiting the outcome of a National Lottery funding grant application to help towards the next steps.

Learning the industry from the ground up, on my own has been a challenge and extremely enlightening. Having it move so fast and gain as much traction as it has in such a short space of time has filled me with so much confidence and lit the fire underneath my drive to see this succeed.

But I could not have done this without the help and support of far too many people to list across both FilmPlatforms and Stage 32.

Calling this an honour and a privilege is most likely the understatement of the year so far.

It has been great to connect with people across all levels of the industry, both gaining and sharing insights (where my limited knowledge can).

I pretty much say this on every post but it couldn't ring more true right now - if the industry grows, we all grow.

I look forward to seeing the progress of quite a few projects I am now following too. We can all learn from each other.

Unfortunately, as I am doing all of this from my own pocket and have found recently a few unfortunate personal events occur, financing has had to be on an equity-only basis for now. Once I feel that Bloom is ready - which hopefully will be not too far in the distance - I will then be looking towards the financing first as this would greatly increase the chances of the concept animation if my other options do not succeed.

I will not give up, I will always find a way.

I just hope this success for Bloom inspires others to fight for their own projects and push through the tough times they may face.

Mark
