I’d appreciate any feedback on this scene from my screenplay BACKPACK.

AMINA

I don't want to live in fear every day...
I just want us to have a better life, and to achieve the things we've always dreamed of.
Mohamed gives her a sad smile.
MOHAMED
You always wanted to have your own kindergarten...
AMINA
And you always wanted to open your own gas station.
Mohamed laughs despite his exhaustion.
MOHAMED
And I wanted Uncle Ibrahim to work with me, so I could take care of him... and Said too.
Amina laughs, then her eyes fill with tears.
AMINA
How many years have we spent dreaming of a simple life, Mohamed...
Mohamed gently wipes away her tear.
MOHAMED
Maybe everything that happened... was the beginning of something we never saw coming.
Amina looks at him.
AMINA
But promise me one thing.
MOHAMED
What?
AMINA
No matter what happens... we never let the money change us.
Mohamed looks into her eyes.
MOHAMED
I promise.
A moment of silence.
Then Amina raises an eyebrow, as if she has just remembered something.
AMINA
There's one more condition.
Mohamed looks at her, puzzled.
MOHAMED
What is it?
AMINA
I want my kindergarten painted purple... with a little orange.
Mohamed looks at her for a moment.
Then...
He bursts out laughing.

I like the little bit of humor at the end. It made me curious about what happened before this scene, especially why they’re living in fear and what the money means for them. Is this scene from later in the story?

Thank you for your feedback. This dialogue is part of the intriguing story you can find in the script summary on my page.
