Hello everyone,

We are Michael and Susanne Rodewald, a German author duo and the creators of the GOLEM Universe – an established science-fiction literary universe comprising 13 completed novels, with a 14th in development.

Our stories explore artificial intelligence, human responsibility, technological power, and the future of civilization across two interconnected timelines.

We have developed extensive materials for an international film and television adaptation, including a Studio Deck and an Executive Treatment.

We are looking to connect with experienced international film and television producers and production companies interested in developing ambitious science-fiction properties.

We see ourselves as guardians of the original story and welcome creative collaboration with experienced industry professionals.

We believe GOLEM offers opportunities for both ambitious long-form storytelling and a budget-conscious entry into a larger fictional universe.

For a first introduction to the project:

Further presentation materials are available to verified industry professionals following genuine interest.

We look forward to connecting with fellow filmmakers and producers.

One of the biggest challenges with adapting an established sci-fi universe is balancing creative ambition with commercial viability.

I'm curious how flexible you are when it comes to adapting GOLEM for the screen. Would you allow an experienced showrunner or production partner to significantly restructure characters, storylines, or even the narrative direction if it improved the project's international market potential?

That balance between protecting the original IP and giving filmmakers creative freedom can ultimately determine whether an adaptation moves forward.

Thank you for this excellent question.

We see ourselves as Guardians of the Story, not creative controllers.

We fully understand that a successful screen adaptation requires creative freedom. An experienced showrunner or production partner should be able to restructure characters, storylines, and dramatic elements to meet the needs of an international audience.

Our priority is to preserve the core identity, central themes, and spirit of the GOLEM universe — not to reproduce every page of our novels.

Equally important is our budget-conscious entry strategy.

GOLEM does not need to begin with expensive interplanetary worlds or large-scale visual effects. The REALITY storyline provides a commercially realistic starting point: a near-future, character-driven science-fiction thriller built around artificial intelligence, political intrigue, and human decisions.

This allows the universe to establish its audience before gradually expanding into the more ambitious FUTURE storyline.

We believe the strongest adaptations emerge when authors and filmmakers respect each other’s expertise and share a common vision.

GOLEM — THE PRODUCTION PARTNER WE ARE LOOKING FOR

To clarify our earlier introduction: we are seeking an experienced film or television producer with relevant production credits who wants to take an active role in developing GOLEM for the screen, building a viable financing plan and bringing the series into production.

We bring a universe of 13 published novels, German and English pilot scripts, a Studio Deck and an Executive Treatment. The first season begins as a present-day Bitcoin thriller with a manageable production scope, before the wider science-fiction story unfolds.

As the Creators and Guardians of the Story, we welcome a producer’s creative vision and meaningful freedom in the adaptation, while preserving GOLEM’s core identity.

Our aim is a production partnership; we are not seeking paid production, marketing or consulting services.

If GOLEM fits your production interests and experience, we would welcome hearing from you directly.

Hello Michael and Susanne, welcome to the community! The GOLEM Universe sounds fascinating, especially its exploration of AI, human responsibility, and the future of civilization. Having 13 completed novels and adaptation materials already prepared is impressive. I wish you both success in finding the right production partners to bring this universe to the screen.

It’s great to hear that the themes behind GOLEM resonate with you. Exploring the relationship between humanity and artificial intelligence has kept us busy for quite a few years — and apparently, we’re not finished yet! 😊

We look forward to some interesting conversations here.

Michael and Susanne, one suggestion. Don't limit your search to production companies. Consider approaching distributors and international sales agents early to gauge market interest. Even preliminary feedback from potential buyers can make a project more attractive to producers and financing partners. Best of luck with GOLEM!

Thank you, John, for this valuable suggestion.

You raise an important point. Early feedback from international distributors and sales agents could indeed help us better understand GOLEM’s market potential and strengthen its positioning with producers and financing partners.

As independent creators, we believe that creative vision and commercial viability need to work together.

We appreciate your perspective and will certainly take it into consideration.

Best regards,
Michael & Susanne

Thanks for clarifying, and I'll respect that you're looking for a producing partner, not paid services. I'm a screenwriter and script editor, so I'm not the right fit for the role you've described. Thirteen published novels is a strong foundation, and starting with a present-day Bitcoin thriller before the sci-fi widens is a smart way to keep Season 1 producible while still seeding the bigger universe.

One question as a writer: how are you planning to handle the pivot when the story shifts from grounded thriller to science fiction? That moment tends to decide whether an audience follows the series into the larger world, so I'm curious how the pilots set it up.

Best of luck finding the right producer.

Hi Alex,

That’s a very good question, and actually one of the key challenges we considered when developing the adaptation.

Our approach is to let the science-fiction elements emerge naturally from the characters, their decisions and the consequences of what happens in the first season.

The transition isn’t intended to feel like a sudden change of genre. The larger GOLEM universe is already present beneath the surface — the audience simply discovers more of it as the story progresses.

For us, the emotional continuity of the characters is what connects the grounded thriller to the wider science-fiction narrative.

That's an interesting approach, Michael and Susanne. Have you considered testing the concept with viewers who know nothing about the books? Sometimes fresh eyes reveal storytelling gaps that are difficult to spot when you've lived with a project for years.

Curious what others think: at what stage should filmmakers start testing their stories with real audiences?
