My name is Darnay "DJ" Cockrell, founder of Cockrell Content LLC. I am an author, screenwriter, actor, and first-time director with a passion for telling bold, authentic stories that leave a lasting impact.

Over the years, I have written four books, and I am now adapting one of them into my debut film series, IN DA RAQ. Bringing this project to life has been one of the greatest challenges of my career. As a first-time filmmaker, I've worn multiple hats writer, director, actor, producer, and problem solver learning every step of the filmmaking process through determination, persistence, and countless obstacles.

Now, as I prepare to wrap production on IN DA RAQ, I look back with pride at how far this journey has come. What started as words on a page has become a full-scale production driven by faith, resilience, and a commitment to creating stories that resonate with audiences. This is only the beginning for Cockrell Content LLC, and I look forward to continuing to create compelling films that entertain, inspire, and open doors to even greater opportunities.

Welcome to FilmPlatforms, DJ!

Congratulations on bringing IN DA RAQ this far. Taking on the roles of writer, director, actor, and producer for your first feature is no small achievement.

We'd love to hear more about the project as production wraps up. Feel free to share updates, behind-the-scenes experiences, or any lessons you've learned along the way. Wishing you every success, and we're glad to have you as part of the community!

Congrats, DJ! Taking a book from the page all the way into production is quite a journey. What has been the biggest lesson for you as a first-time director?

Frfr… no one has ever asked me that question which is really a good question. I would say the biggest lesson as a first time Director was learning that filmmaking is you have to be like Bruce Lee said, and be like water and be able to adjust on the fly but, I came into IN DA RAQ
Fresh from completing a 9 minute, short film but I adapted this story from my second novel as the writer I knew the story inside and out, but directing enforced me to see the story through the eyes, of actors, locations, equipment, time and the unexpected challenges that come with production. I learned that you can plan everything, but you still have to be willing to adjust without losing the heart of the story. Most importantly I learned that being a Director isnt about having all the answers or telling people what to do. It’s about making the best decision for the story when you don’t have all the answers.🫡
