The one that takes hours... or even days.

Not because it's complicated, but because you know it has to be right.
Maybe it's an emotional goodbye. Maybe it's the opening scene. Maybe it's the ending. Or maybe it's a quiet conversation that carries the whole story.

For me, I've realized that the hardest scenes are usually the ones where the characters have the most to lose.

What's the hardest scene you've ever written, and what made it so difficult?

What's the hardest scene you've ever written, and what made it so difficult?

For me, it's usually the scenes where the characters can't say what they're really thinking or feeling. I often rewrite those conversations several times to make the dialogue feel natural while keeping the emotional tension underneath. When those scenes finally work, they're often the most rewarding to write.

I really like that perspective. Those unspoken conversations often end up saying more than dialogue ever could. It's interesting how the scenes that seem the quietest can become the hardest—and most rewarding—to write. I appriciate you sharing your experience!
